Comparative study on biosorption of arsenite ions onto raw and chemically activated orange peel powder in batch reactor

In present work, comparative study of sorption potential raw and chemically activated orange peel powder has been explored for the removal arsenite ions (As III) from wastewater. Several operating parameters such as contact time, adsorbent dose, adsorbate ion concentration, solution pH well temperature were studied in batch reactor. Surface physicochemical analysis was done by using FTIR (Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy), SEM (Scanning Electron Microscopy), proximate ultimate analysis. Maximum As (III) 86.3% 87% obtained at initial metal concentration 20 mg/l 25 mg/L, optimum 2 2.8, 30°C 25°C, time 120 150 minutes dose 4g respectively. Modeling experimental data showed that Freundlich model (R2 = 97.45) had a better fit over Langmuir isotherm 96.33) =99.8%) comparison to =94.5%) shows fit. The depicts are more effective than powder. Thus, is found be promising simple material ions.
